Volunteer Sign-Up Form

FHS welcomes volunteers 18 or older, or younger volunteers if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Completing the following information will assist us in matching your interests with our volunteer opportunities.

These are our current volunteer opportunities:

Dog and/or Cat Foster Parenting

• Foster dogs, cats, puppies or kittens in your home until permanent homes can be found (requires Foster Application).

Feline TLC

• Cuddle and socialize cats and kittens in the PETsMART Pet Adoption Center for felines
• Clean cages on assigned days
• Occasional extensive cleaning of Pet Adoption Center

Adopt-A-Pet (Feline)

• Work feline adoptions on the weekend either on Saturday or Sunday afternoon - minimum 5 hours required per month.
• Handle feline adoptions durng the week on an appointment basis.

We do not currently have any volunteer opportunities to work with our dogs other than fostering.

DOGS
Set up at Adopt-A-Pet Set up tables, crates, etc. at Frisco PetsMart on 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of the month.
Help during Adopt-A-Pet Walk and water dogs during the event.
Adoption Counseling At Adopt-A-Pet Requiresspecial training which will be provided.
Fostering Dogs or Puppies Requires completing Foster Application form and home visit
Laundering of dog cage bedding After Adopt-A-Pet events
Transportation Assist with transporting animals between shelters, vets, fosters, etc.
ADMIN & GENERAL
Assist with special adoption events
Fundraising ideas Assist Director of Fundraising in searching out new fundraising ideas
Grant Writing
Work at fundraising events Work at special fundraising events, educational events or PR events
Advertising Write news articles and procure free advertising
Public Relations Communicate with local media and businesses to procure PR opportunities
Web Page Development
Answer Voice Mail Answer voice mail and forward messages via email
Adoption Packets Preparation and assembly of Adoption Packets
Supplies procurement Procure and maintain supply of necessary items such as cardboard pet carriers, collars, tags, etc.
Email and database work Send follow-up emails and make database entries after adoptions are completed
Other tasks as needed
